Marshall Cooper – Business Manager

Dr Prem Anand. GP at the Lakeside Medical Practice.

"I grew up in Oxford and came to London to mature and Study Medicine.

I came to Greenwich to train to be a GP and some of my training in the late 80s was at Lakeside. My trainer was Dr Tony McCullagh. The work was really long and difficult but I became attached to Thamesmead. Tony McCullagh offered me a partnership at Lakeside and I accepted it with my wife’s agreement.

I have met many wonderful people as patients and colleagues over the years. I particularly enjoyed teaching the new doctors . Running Lakeside as a senior partner and being involved in so many ways in the wider medical community was quite a full experience for so many years.

Jacqueline and I raised and educated our five children , who are now all gainfully employed, thank God. We are now grandparents, which is lovely and exhausting all at once.

I am leaving now partly due to quite challenging health problems in my heart and lungs.

I will soon be 65 years old. So it is time to move on.

I wish all my fellow colleagues at the practice every success as the NHS evolves now.

I will miss the many patients who I have come to appreciate and felt privileged to have helped in some small way. I hope they can remember me fondly.

As my new life journey begins the Lakeside Medical Practice is in excellent hands, in my opinion with Dr Huw Williams as senior partner and Mr Marshall Cooper as a wonderful manager.

Goodbye and my very best wishes to all."
